After reading through the media that the 656 class use and their reasons for taking the class, I found out both a common reason for taking the class as well as some common elements of media the students use on a regular basis.
Common reason for taking the class:
Students want to find out how computers affect conventional media, the society, and our lives.

Cellphone, Internet(including email and social media), Music, Movies/Videos, TV, and Games.
